The University of Texas at Arlington is hosting the third in a series of eight White House LGBT Conferences across the country.

The topic of the conference on Tuesday, March 20 is Safe Schools and Communities. The previous two LGBT conferences focused on health, and housing and homelessness. The goal of the LGBT conferences is to raise awareness on issues impacting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

The conference at UT Arlington will include panel discussions and workshops on topics such as violence against LGBT youth, family acceptance, bullying prevention and intervention, and federal legal protection. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett will be the keynote speakers.

Registration for the conference has reached capacity. Those who wish to be placed on a wait list can email [email protected] with their name, email address, title, and organization.

A live stream of the first three hours and the conference's closing remarks can be viewed at www.whitehouse.gov/live.
