Early mornings in summer are a busy time for savvy shoppers - it's yard sale season. Early next month, the Friends and Foundation of the Arlington Public Library is joining the fun with its first Community Yard Sale.
The sale will take place on the front lawn and parking lot of the Literacy House from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8. Arrive early for the best selection!
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the new George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, which is set to open in 2018.
"We have been brainstorming new ways to help our community get involved with the new Downtown Library," says Ivonne Kieffer, the library's Program Management & Community Engagement Administrator. "A monetary donation isn't right for every family, but the Community Yard Sale gives Arlington a fun and different option to support the library."
Library supporters can also donate items for the Community Yard Sale. The Friends and Foundation will accept donations at all library locations. Household items such as clothing, shoes, jewelry, electronics, games, toys, dishes, art, books, and furniture are all welcome.
If you need to arrange delivery of any large items, please call 817-459-6925. Library staff can provide you with a receipt for your donations.
The Friends and Foundation put on book sales twice a year in support of the library. With the Yard Sale, they are expanding their offerings to other items.
