The annual Master Composter Workshop took place at UTA's Sweet Center and the adjacent compost area this past weekend.

This two-day workshop is free for Arlington residents ($20 for non-residents) and provides attendees with free composting books, a composting thermometer and a zero waste lunch.

Class participants receive classroom instruction followed by hands-on composting in the adjacent compost area at UTA. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants are encouraged to attend the monthly backyard composter class and continue to accrue volunteer hours to work towards a master composter certificate and a free composting bin.

Compost class attendees consist of high school students, teachers, retirees, families, working professionals and individuals with a desire to learn sustainable practices. Class instruction is led by our wonderful Master Composters.
