Light Up Arlington - 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3

Light Up Arlington begins at 6 p.m. with music, vendors, carnival-style food, bounce houses, face painting and games set up along several city blocks in the Downtown/University District. This free event features a 21-minute enhanced music/fireworks show from atop City Hall, beginning at 9:45 p.m. This event is free. Details at www.naturallyfun.org or call 817-459-5474.

Independence Day Parade - 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4
This year' s parade begins at 9 a.m. The theme is "Emblems of a Land I Love." More than 50,000 spectators are expected to line downtown Arlington streets to see over 3,000 participants and 150 entries, which include floats, marching bands, drill teams and antique automobiles. The 2-mile parade route begins at the intersection of Mitchell and Pecan streets, proceeds north on Pecan Street, west on UTA Boulevard, north on West Street, east on Abram Street, south on Center Street and west on Mitchell Street. Arlington Highlands Fireworks Extravaganza - 7 p.m. Thursday, July 4

Texas Rangers Baseball
The Texas Rangers will play the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, July 4 at The Ballpark in Arlington. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Fireworks will immediately follow the games. For ticket information, visit www.texas.rangers.mlb.com.

Fire Safety Reminder
By city ordinance, fireworks can only be used by licensed professionals. It is illegal to possess, sell or use fireworks within city limits. Violators could face fines up to $2,000.
