Registration is now underway for the Lake Arlington Litter Clean-Up. The registration deadline is 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 11.
This annual event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 14. The goal is to improve the appearance of Lake Arlington and increase public awareness about how litter can affect water quality.
Individuals, civic clubs, organizations, and student groups are being encouraged to register and volunteer.
Last year's event attracted more than 200 volunteers who collected 8.8 tons of litter.
"The Lake Arlington Litter Clean-up event is a great way for individuals and groups to help keep Arlington beautiful," said event co-coordinator Dr. Brigette Gibson.
Free lunch will be provided to all volunteers. All volunteer participants are reminded to wear long pants and sleeves, sturdy shoes or boots, and hats. No shorts or sandals will be allowed. Gloves, insect repellant, and trash bags will be provided by the City of Arlington.
