In an effort to Champion Great Neighborhoods, the culmination of the City's month long celebration of National Homeownership Month concluded with the 2nd Annual Homeownership Fair on Saturday, June 24, 2017.
The event was held at the Arlington Convention Center with nearly 400 in attendance, including 45 exhibitors and 42 volunteers. City Councilmember Victoria Farrar-Meyers welcomed guests and thanked this year's sponsors and vendors. Platinum sponsors included: Prosperity Bank, Arlington Board of Realtors, Stanfield Realtors, TexInspec, and Supreme Lending.
Participants learned how to get ready to buy in today's real estate market, ways to improve their credit score, and how to obtain a mortgage loan. City departments provided a wealth of information for current and prospective homeowners.
A new information session was provided in Spanish this year by the Housing Channel and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs on "Accessing Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance."
Children who attended also had several new activities to try out, including a gaming truck and Arlington Public Library's Imagination Playground, as well as popular activities from last year. Those activities included the Arlington Tennis Center's Tennis Road Show and Home Depot's Build a Birdhouse class.
