Pups and their human parents are invited to EngAGE Arlington's inaugural Yappy Hour Dog Walk, which will feature Texas wine and beer tastings, doggy treats, music and other "paw-some" entertainment.
Dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds are welcome to the event, which is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Vandergriff Park/Bob Duncan Center, 2800 South Center Street in Arlington.
Along the park's walking trail, participants can stop and enjoy beer and wine samples and tasty treats for themselves and for their pets. Offerings for pampered pooches include "Pinot Leasheo" wine, "Bark Out Lager" beer, "Pup-tato Chips" and other treats from Bark Out Loud Doggie Boutique and Café. Adult participants can enjoy four wine pours: Fetzer Chardonnay, Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon, 1000 Stories Zinfandel and Fetzer Gewurztraminer.
"This is our first time to do this. We're really excited about it," said Susie Traylor, Eunice Activity Center Facility Manager with the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department. "It will be a fun event for the parents to hang out with their dogs."
Beer and wine will be available for purchase. The event will also feature food trucks, canine entertainment by Dog Scouts of America Troop #119 and dog specialty vendors, including on-site pet photography.
Admission is $10 for those who pre-register by 5 p.m. March 30 or $15 for those who show up on event day. Admission includes four wine tastings for adults and six wine/beer/treat samples for canine participants. Some activities may cost extra.
To pre-register for tickets, call the Parks Administration Office at 817-459-5474 or EngAGE Arlington at 817-277-8091 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
