"On the Clock" is a show that gives residents an inside look at the hard work city employees do every day to make Arlington a better community to live, learn, work and play.
The episode, hosted by City Manager Trey Yelverton, gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at the Arlington Action Center and Code Compliance Services, and how they respond to non-emergency calls from residents.
The City of Arlington recently launched the free Ask Arlington app for Android and Apple devices. Through the Ask Arlington app, users can report common complaints such as overgrown weeds and grass, barking dogs or vehicles parked in a yard. Apartment tenants can also turn to the app to report conditions such as insect infestations, no air conditioning or heat, or lack of hot water, for inspection.
The city employs 17 full-time operators, four who are bilingual, to take calls and route issues to the correct departments from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday. Staff also takes calls for Animal Services only through 6 p.m. each weekday. Action Center staff began taking calls from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays in January 2016.
Nearly 2,000 citizens dial the Action Center at 817-459-6777 on an average weekday, and the majority of calls are handled in three minutes or less. When staff is unavailable to answer a call, residents can leave a message through the center's interactive voice recording.
Code Compliance's objective is to make neighborhoods safe, strong and attractive. Arlington residents are encouraged to foster a strong sense of civic pride and voluntarily comply with city ordinances. You can contact your Code Compliance Officer by Inspection District on the City's website.
The City's Office of Communication develops programming for MyArlingtonTV. Viewers can find MyArlingtonTV programs on the following cable systems: Spectrum Channel 16 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99, and streaming capabilities at www.arlington-tx.gov.
All episodes are also available on the City's YouTube channel, Facebook page and Twitter account.
