According to an article in the Dallas Morning News, the Arlington housing market continues to thrive, with homes sales and prices on the rise, even though mortgage costs have increased as well. This trend is occurring throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

During the first half of the year, 2,308 homes were sold in Arlington, which is 21% higher than in the same six-month period in 2012. This increase was one of the highest in the Metroplex.

The median price for a home in Arlington is $130,380, an increase of a 6%.

Real estate agents say there is a shortage of inventory, which means listed homes are receiving multiple offers, if they are in good condition.

Arlington has 2.5 month supply of homes listed for sale with real estate agents, according to data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University and North Texas Real Estate Information Systems. A six-month housing inventory is considered a balanced market.
