Bowling is growing in popularity around the world, and our friends in Germany are a perfect example of the sport's rise in that region. Arlington's sister city, Bad Königshofen, has successfully converted a kegeling facility into new bowling facility called a Bowlingbahn. So far, the two-lane microbowl has been a huge hit.

In September, a group featuring 40 Bad Königshofen residents toured the International Bowling Musuem and Hall of Fame here in Arlington to get a few pointers.

"The delegation was able to learn first hand the additional history of the sport and experience bowling as they planned for their own facility,' said City Council member Sherri Capehart, who accompanied the group on their visit.

It's been 54 years since the City of Arlington and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce adopted Bad Koenigshofen, and a letter confirming that decision was signed by then Mayor Tom Vandergriff and sent to the Mayor of Koenigshofen, Kaspar Lurz. Arlington's partnership with Bad Koenigshofen is the longest on-going sister city relationship of any in Texas.
