Driven by a passion for parks and a desire to make Arlington a better place for all, Glenn Troutman has been instrumental in the development and renovation of over 600 acres of park land during his involvement with the Arlington Parks and Recreation Board. Additionally, he has played a significant role in the acquisition of approximately 500 acres of land purchased to enhance the quality of life for Arlington residents.

To honor these accomplishments, Troutman was presented with a "Volunteer of the Year" award by the Arlington City Council in June 2012. This is the second consecutive year that Troutman has received the community award.

"Glenn Troutman is simply an exceptional individual, volunteer, and community leader who has given generously of his time for many years. His knowledge and passion for Arlington Parks and Recreation has been a true blessing," said Pete Jamieson, Arlington Parks and Recreation Director.

Throughout his 10-year service with the Arlington parks board, Troutman has been a part of several major projects such as the Hike and Bike Master Plan, Linear Park Trails, Parks Needs Assessment and Community Garden Partnership. He has also helped with the development of over 18 parks including Heroes' Park, Founders Plaza, Tails N' Trails Dog Park and Crystal Canyon Nature Preserve.

Troutman, a retired AT&T manager, began his service with Arlington Parks and Recreation in 2001 and over the years he has filled many board positions, including Board Chairman. He has also served on numerous other city committees and enjoys working with the community. "The community teaches me so much. I am always learning," Troutman said.
