City’s Traffic Webcams Keep Your Commute on Track During Project

Arlington Streets Ready for Close-Up With Launch of Webcam Page

Arlington drivers will be forced to find alternate routes through the city next week when the Union Pacific Rail Renewal project gets underway. But avoiding gridlock might be easier now that a segment of City's network of traffic cameras is available online.

"We want to give the public access to as much information as possible, said Rebecca Rodriguez, Marketing Communications Manager for the City of Arlington. "Being able to go to our website and take a quick look at traffic conditions should make it easier for drivers to decide which way to go before they hit the road.”

The City of Arlington is launching a new webpage featuring strategically selected traffic webcams to help keep drivers on track during the January 16-24 Union Pacific Track Renewal Project. Anyone can view the 27 traffic webcams available only at MyArlingtonTx.com.

The interactive map not only links to a still shot from a selected camera which is refreshed every five minutes, but can be moved to indicate which crossings will be open or closed during the project dates.

The project's 250 man crew will work roughly 12 hours a day between 6am and 6pm to complete the project during the estimated time span. The railroad crossings will remain closed 24 hours a day during all phases of the track renewal.
