Some legendary local talent will take the stage at the Levitt Pavilion Saturday night for a benefit concert to raise funds for Arlington's tornado victims.
The event will kick off with music by the Salvation Army Band, followed by a performance from Tony Award winner Betty Buckley, a TCU grad and former Miss Fort Worth who has starred in Broadway productions of CATS, 1776 and Sunset Boulevard.
Also on the event lineup is Melissa Lawson, an Arlington mom of five who was the winner of ABC's Nashville Star country music competition in 2008.
"All Levitt events are exciting and special in their own way, but this one is particularly meaningful because of its connection to our community," said Patti Diou, the venue's executive director. "We're very pleased that all of these amazing entertainers could join us, and we're looking forward to a wonderful evening."
Like all Levitt events, there's no admission fee for the tornado relief concert. Instead, guests will be encouraged during the concert to make cash-only contributions to the Salvation Army's relief efforts. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and coolers, but no glass items are permitted on site.
The Levitt Pavilion Arlington is one of the city's premiere family entertainment destinations, offering 50 free concerts a year that feature headline performers in jazz, rock, country and world music genres.
