The Union Pacific track renewal train will force rail crossing closures and traffic detours, but businesses in downtown Arlington will keep their doors open through it all.

There are more than 760 businesses in the downtown Arlington area, ranging from automobile dealers to restaurants. Most plan to maintain normal business hours.

Barricades to control traffic will be placed at various distances from the tracks to allow drivers access to businesses closest to the rail.

As the TRT-909 continues moving east, crews will work to open Davis before closing Collins on Saturday, January 19. Stadium Drive East is also scheduled to close on that day.

Earlier today, the at-grade rail crossing at Bowen Road was closed for approximately four hours so the TRT-909 could pass through. Davis Street was closed around noon. Crews are expected to return at a later date to manually replace the rail, ties and crossing on Bowen Road.

As you plan your commute, please consider the following alternate routes:

  • U.S. Highway 820
  • Green Oaks Boulevard
  • Forest Edge Drive
  • Fielder Road
  • West Street
  • U.S. Highway 360
  • State Highway 161
