The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department and Lake Arlington are excited to officially announce the first Lake Arlington Bass Tournament, sponsored by Cabela's of Fort Worth, on March 16, 2013.

'The Fort Worth Cabela's is a strong supporter of bass fishing and is very excited to begin our partnership with the City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department,' Retail Marketing Manager Melissa Barry said. We are especially eager to help them host their series of Bass Tournaments and encourage the Arlington community to become a part of this fantastic sport.

'We'll be giving away some great prizes and coupons to everyone, so we want to see lots of familiar and new faces!'

The tournament, scheduled to take place on March 16, 2013, will kick-off at 6 a.m. with a weigh-out to take place at 3 p.m. After the weigh-out, participants and spectators are invited to a lakeside cookout at Richard Simpson Park. The cookout will be hosted by Luigi Cinelli, chef at Ventana Grille at Tierra Verde Golf Club.

'We are excited to offer this event to the Arlington fishing community and anticipate growing from one tournament into a series in the coming years,' Rental and Lake Services Coordinator and Tournament Director Kristy Sheikh said.

Anglers who pre-register are able to secure their spot for $30. Same-day registration will be available for $40, from 4 a.m. to 5:45 a.m., at the Lake Office in Richard Simpson Park. If interested in competing, call the Lake Arlington Office at 817-451-6860, or the Tournament Director at 817-575-8293.
