It looks like a best-case scenario for your Thursday morning commute. After a four-day closure, Collins Street is now open. The Union Pacific Rail Renewal project to replace aging track and ties along a 13-mile stretch in Arlington has consistently moved ahead of schedule. Cooper, Center, Mesquite, and Collins are all open for traffic, a day earlier than expected.

"UP has been listening to the City of Arlington's concerns since day one and really bent over backwards to make sure rail crossings opened ahead of schedule," said Keith Melton, Director of Public Works and Transportation. " We really appreciate what UP did to help minimize the number of crossings closed simultaneously during this project. Rush hour commutes should be a lot smoother."

After further road work, Davis Drive is expected to re-open Wednesday evening. The final crossings impacted by the project remain on schedule, with Stadium Drive East slated to open Thursday, January 24 and Great Southwest Parkway scheduled to open February 3.
