Traffic in Arlington should be back to normal now that Great Southwest Parkway is open in both directions. The rail crossing was originally scheduled to open February 3, but is open nine days early.

Union Pacific crews replaced aging track and ties along a 13-mile stretch in Arlington, and will continue to move east toward Dallas.

" We really appreciate what UP did to help minimize the number of crossings closed simultaneously during this project. Rush hour commutes should be a lot smoother,' said Keith Melton, Director of Public Works and Transportation.
