A lot could happen in 25 minutes -a quick workout, cleaning a room, or cooking an easy meal. Parents could also take that same 25 minutes to speak to children about safety. The Arlington Police Department is encouraging parents to Take 25 to talk to children about the dangers of speaking to strangers, what information should never be shared on the Internet, and how there is safety in numbers. By having that quick talk, parents give youngsters the tools necessary to stay safe.
Take 25 is part of National Missing Children's Day, which is May 25. To recognize that special day, Arlington Acting Police Chief Will Johnson and Arlington Independent School District Superintendent Jerry McCullough will speak to 3rd grade students at Anderson Elementary School (1101 Timberlake Drive in Arlington) on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. This event is open to media. Please, join us as Chief Johnson and Mr. McCullough provide an example of the discussion that parents should have with children.
Families are encouraged to go to www.take25.org for tips on how to talk to kids.
