Sometimes they float. Sometimes they don't. They're cardboard boats, after all.

Learn how to design, build and sail boats constructed entirely from corrugated cardboard during a FREE Boat Building School presented by the River Legacy Foundation on Saturday, Feb. 9.

School hours are 10 a.m. to noon in the Arlington City Hall Council Chambers, 101 W. Abram Street.

" If you want to participate in our 24^th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta, but designing and building a boat completely out of cardboard seems a little daunting, then our Boat Building School is perfect for you,' said Kristi Payne, Marketing Coordinator for the River Legacy Foundation.

Regatta contestants will receive a boat-building manual, advice from experts and a boat-building demonstration.

" Renowned boat builders and longtime winners, Gary Daley and Bob Sherwood, will share engineering strategies to keep your boat afloat during Saturday's live demonstration.' (says who?)

Attendees will also hear about the fun, new and exciting event-day activities and competitions planned for the Cardboard Boat Regatta. Door prizes will be awarded during Saturday's class.

The deadline to enter boats in the Regatta is April 15. The Cardboard Boat Regatta hits the waters at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor on April 27.
