Next time you head out to board a Metro ArlingtonXpress bus, make sure you bring your mobile device of choice. The new MAX buses feature a free Wi-Fi service, giving riders the chance to surf the Internet while riding through town. After boarding MAX, riders are able to access the wireless network within seconds.
"This is a tremendous benefit for riders, who can now stay connected with family, friends, news, and information while riding," said Jim Parajon, Community Development & Planning Director.
City leaders, wanting to ensure that all riders could maximize productivity while riding MAX, partnered with DART and The T to launch this new service. This is an amenity that no other bus service in North Texas currently offers. Where Wi-Fi was once a novelty aboard buses, it' s becoming a must-have for transit authorities that service major cities across the country.
For students, the bus could become a rolling study hall. Instead of driving to the airport, business travelers spend time finalizing a document and email to a client. All riders are encouraged to try the new Wi-Fi service and provide feedback at RideTheMax.com.
MAX connects the University of Texas at Arlington in the downtown area to the TRE' s CentrePort/DFW Airport Station. Buses will operate Monday-Friday from about 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
