UT Arlington senior forward Brandon Edwards was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for March 2-8.
Edwards averaged 25.5 points on 61.5-percent shooting and 13.5 rebounds as UTA split road games at Troy and South Alabama to finish its first season in the Sun Belt tied for fifth place at 9-9.
The senior had his 13th double-double of the season, and set career highs in points (33) and rebounds (19) in the double-overtime win at Troy. Edwards made 13-16 shots, while adding three assists and three blocks. He followed it up with 18 points and eight rebounds - both team highs - in Saturday's loss at South Alabama.
Edwards shot 61.5 percent (16-26) from the floor for the week and 89.5 percent (17-19) at the line. Edwards is currently in the Sun Belt top 10 in scoring, rebounding, shooting percentage, free-throw shooting percentage and blocks.
