A new, exciting art festival is brewing in the heart of Arlington.
The Downtown Arlington Brewing Arts Festival, hosted by the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation and Downtown businesses, will take place from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, September 14 and from noon to midnight Saturday, September 15 in the bustling Urban Union district.
This inaugural festival, designed to celebrate the city's thriving arts community, will feature dozens of artists, vendors, food trucks, craft beer and live music. Admission and parking will be free.
The festival also aims to shine a spotlight on the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation's (DAMC) ongoing mission to enhance the vitality and overall environment of Downtown Arlington, the City's historic center.
"Downtown is designated by the State of Texas as the Arlington Cultural District," said Aldo Fritz, President and CEO of DAMC, "so as a part of our ongoing responsibility to the arts, it's important for DAMC to be an incubator for the incredible talent found throughout our region and state."
The Downtown Arlington Urban Art Movement, a new initiative of DAMC, advances this mission through events and placemaking projects that engage and uplift the arts, artists and the entire community. That's where Brewing Arts — a celebration of all kinds of art and the creators who make it — comes in to the picture.
Brewing Arts offers access to amazing local artists and craftsman of the visual and edible arts. Artists will line the streets in downtown's Urban Union, showcasing and selling their work, while visitors enjoy live music, a kids' creation station, and delicious creations from food vendors.
Scheduled to perform are local favorites including Svenny Baby, Ethan Tyler, Across Waters, 2:14, Ravenhill, Velvet Love Box, Alan Fox Band, Stratoblasters, Metro Rocket Band, and Buddy Whittington. A full list of bands can be found here.
The Brewing Arts Festival kicks off with the Downtown Arlington Mural Project VIP Dedication at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 13.
Sponsored in part by the Arlington Cultural Tourism Council, the evening celebrates new works created specifically for the Downtown Arlington Mural Project, a new program of the Urban Art Movement. Proceeds from ticket sales from this event will support future Urban Art Movement projects. To purchase tickets for the VIP Dedication, visit brewingarts.org.
These events represent far more than just a celebration. They are part of the larger movement solidifying Arlington as a destination for creators and all members of the creative community.
"Creating a vibrant city is important," said Ron Price, President and CEO of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau. "It's great to see the innovative ways cultural tourism and art is being incorporated into everyday life in Arlington."
