Arlington’s Public Works & Transportation Department Receives APWA Re-Accreditation
The City of Arlington 's Department of Public Works and Transportation has recently been awarded a prestigious American Public Works Association (APWA) Re-Accreditation. The APWA Re-Accreditation program recognizes public works agencies that go beyond the requirements of the management practices established nationally in the public works industry, as contained in the APWA Public Works Management Practices Manual.
The City of Arlington agency received its original APWA Accreditation June 29, 2010, and received its first Re-Accreditation on July 7, 2014. The Arlington Re- Accreditation award was presented to the Public Works and Transportation Department staff on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, during the City Council meeting located at City Hall ,101 West Abram Street, in Arlington, TX.
Arlington's Public Works Re-Accreditation indicates the department has met all applicable Re-Accreditation documentation and practices. "The awarding of the APWA Re-Accreditation shows that we have continued to dedicate ourselves to concepts of improvement and in-depth self-assessment of department policies, procedures and practices. The heroes of this prestigious APWA award are the public works staff whose mission is to provide services and programs that contribute to making Arlington a great city,'said Arlington's Public Works and Transportation Director Keith Melton.
The Arlington Public Works and Transportation Department 's Mission is "to build on an understanding of our current situation and an identification of our desired future, which enables us to build on our strengths, overcome obstacles and optimize opportunities. '
