Monday night's College Football Playoff National Championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington will be a homecoming of sorts for some excited Oregon and Ohio State players with local ties.
Oregon linebacker Justin Hollins (#11), a solid contributor during his freshman season, was a standout at Arlington Martin High School.
His teammate, defensive back Stephen Amoako (#29), is a redshirt sophomore for the Ducks. According to Hollins, having Amoako there ahead of him made his transition to Oregon easier.
Over on the other sideline, Ohio State running back Dontre Wilson (#1), a sophomore from DeSoto, hopes to return from injury against Oregon. He's been out since November recovering from a broken foot. Here's an interesting fact: Wilson originally committed to Oregon until Chip Kelly left to become the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Oregon Ducks (13-1) and Ohio State Buckeyes (13-1) are the final two teams in the College Football Playoff and will face off against each other in the inaugural National Championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. CT January 12 and will be televised on ESPN.
