The City of Arlington is pleased to announce that Jim Parajon has been promoted to Deputy City Manager for Economic Development and Capital Investment. His first day in this role will be Monday, January 19.

This promotion comes after the retirement of Don Jakeway, who served in that role for two years.

"Jim has been a tremendous asset to the City of Arlington and it's a privilege to have a person of his caliber serving in such an important position," City Manager Trey Yelverton said. "As one of the city's three deputy city managers, Jim will provide leadership and strategic coordination for the city's Arlington Municipal Airport, Community Development and Planning and Public Works departments and the Office of Economic Development."

"I'm incredibly honored to serve in this new capacity in the City of Arlington," said Jim Parajon. "I look forward to working with the City Council and management to make Arlington an even better place."

Parajon has been the Director of Community Development and Planning for the City of Arlington since 2006. He was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners in 2014. Previously, he worked for the City of Raleigh, NC, where he served as Assistant Planning Director.

Bridgett White will serve as Interim Director of Community Development and Planning while the City of Arlington conducts a search. White, who has been with the organization for approximately 12 years, currently serves as Assistant Director of Community Development and Planning. She is a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
