The Sun Belt Conference announced today that the upcoming men's basketball game between UL Lafayette and UT Arlington on Saturday, Feb. 7 has been selected as the first of two"wild card" games to be carried by ESPN or ESPN2.
The game will now tip at 1 p.m. CT from the Cajundome in Lafayette, La. The network will be announced one week in advance.
UL Lafayette (10-5, 4-0) currently is at the top of the Sun Belt Conference standings while UT Arlington (9-6, 3-2) sits in a three-way tie for fourth. The Ragin' Cajuns are led by fifth-year head coach Bob Marlin and junior forward Shawn Long. The Mavericks are led by ninth-year head coach Scott Cross and the guard tandem of senior Jamel Outler and junior Johnny Hill.
The game on Feb. 7 will be the first of two meetings this season between the Ragin' Cajuns and Mavericks. It will also be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinals, a 91-85 win for the Ragin' Cajuns en route to the tournament title.
