Golden People are Willing and Sharing (PAWS) volunteers, Council member Sheri Capehart and city staff gathered together on Wednesday, January 14 to share memories and pay tribute to Ms. Sandra (Sandy) Morgan, past president and leader of the Golden PAWS senior volunteer program at the Arlington Animal Services Center. Ms. Sandy was ever present at the bi-monthly Golden PAWS meetings and ongoing special events held citywide promoting responsible pet ownership and the adoption of homeless animals. Her radiant smile, spunk and dedication to helping the shelter animals will be sorely missed. As everyone shared memories it was evident that Ms. Sandy's sense of humor, passion for animal welfare and spirited energy touched the lives of everyone she befriended.
Golden PAWS is a creative group of youthful seniors that meet twice a month for social time and to fashion a variety of hand crafted items for the benefit of the shelter animals. The handmade blankets, bandanas and toys are made especially for the homeless animals, as well as being available at public events with the gift of a donation. Their quality of craftsmanship is impressive and dedication equally great. A brick paver was placed on the commemorative walkway in honor of Ms. Sandy at the Animal Services Center.
The good deeds of Ms. Sandy are memorable and will not be forgotten.
