Arlington 's premiere children 's theatre, CATS (Creative Arts Theatre & School) brings to life the pages of a beloved children 's literary classic with Tomie de Paola 's Strega Nona. Directed by Jason Walker, featuring an eight-member cast of youth performers, CATS alumni and a veteran CATS instructor, this musical will delight the whole family!

Tomie de Paola 's Strega Nona is the lively musical tale of a sage and magical witch, Strega Nona, who strives to cure the ills of her tiny Italian town of Calabria. She spends her days curing the town of headaches, helping them find spouses and healing the occasional bunion. The town faces real problems when her mischievous apprentice, Big Anthony, sneaks a peek at Strega Nona 's magic book and uses the witch 's magical ways for selfish means. When Anthony fools with the magic pasta pot and can 't figure out how to turn it off, the pasta threatens to engulf the whole town - unless Strega Nona can save the day!

Tomie de Paola 's Strega Nona is the fusion of three of the author/illustrator 's cherished books: Strega Nona,Strega Nona Her Story and Big Anthony and the Magic Ring. Thomas Olson and Roberta Carlson 's theatrical adaptation of de Paola 's Strega Nona stories was originally developed for the renowned Children 's Theatre Company in Minneapolis. With an energetic and tuneful score by composer Aron Accurso, this fantastical tale teaches that witches can be good, and that and you can 't judge a pot by its pasta!

This show is sponsored, in part, by Downtown Arlington Management Corporation.
