Runners will once again get the chance to run The American Dream City on Sunday, April 24, 2016! The Lone Star Half Marathon and Mayor's 5K will start and finish at the Levitt Pavilion in Downtown Arlington. Both The University of Texas at Arlington's Adaptive Sports Program and Arlington ISD Athletics have also agreed to partner with The Lone Star Half Marathon and Mayor's 5K and the money raised from this year's event will benefit those organizations.

River Legacy Living Science Center will be closed Saturday, April 23 for River Legacy's 27th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Admission tickets can still be purchased in advance for $6 at the Science Center, 703 N.W. Green Oaks Blvd., until 4 p.m., Friday, April 22. Tickets will be $8 per person ages 3 and up at the gate. The Cardboard Boat Regatta runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes cardboard boat races, splash time at Hook's Lagoon, Spikeball & Horseshoes play; spins on the Tornado, Surge & Twister; Children's Area with a Mini-Boat Regatta; Whale Sail for fabulous prizes and more! Coffee & Crafting has moved to Saturday mornings! Come get creative this Saturday, April 23 from 9:15-11 a.m. and enjoy great company and coffee (or tea) while creating fun Pinterest crafts! Arlington Parks and Recreation have chosen an Anthropologie inspired tassel key-chain as April's craft. We will provide all the necessary supplies. One Mission's 3rd Annual Buzz Off will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24 at Globe Life Park in Arlington. All proceeds will be used to allow children with cancer to make the most out of their situations and enjoy activities with their families sponsored by One Mission. Events supported by the proceeds include holiday parties, art and craft events, and a special night out for patients and their families. Shaved hair that meets eligibility requirements will be donated to Locks of Love, according to the charity's website.
See what it takes to become an Astronaut and the effect space has on the human body this Sunday, April 24 at UTA Planetarium! Narrated by Ewan McGregor, experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut, explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, and discover the perils that lurk in space. This family-friendly show starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. For more information on other shows happening at the UTA Planetarium and ticket prices, please visit their website.
