Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation announced this week it has awarded grants to eight non-profit organizations in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma to support youth baseball and softball programs.
The Globe Life Texas Rangers Baseball and Softball grants were presented Tuesday at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
Two of the grant recipients are Arlington-based nonprofits. The Newman International Academy in Arlington received a grant to repair and update its fields and add lights. The Sam Houston High School Alumni Association in Arlington received a grant to replace batting cages and purchase new equipment.
Organizations were asked to complete a proposal describing how funding from the grant would allow them to give youth in their area the opportunity to play either baseball or softball. The winners were selected based on need and the ability of the proposed program to improve baseball programs in their local areas.
The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation instituted the Grant Program in 2012 as another means to promote the growth and development of youth baseball and softball. Click here to learn more.
