With seven branch locations across Arlington and 98 employees working together to bring materials, programs, and services to the community, there are many moving parts that come together to keep the Arlington Public Library running at full speed. In order to keep each of the individuals involved in this valuable community service learning, growing, and exploring, the library will close all branches for one day of staff development, Friday, October 28.
The one-day closure of all branches, dubbed [re]Brary Day, will allow all of the employees of the library to come together for learning, inspiration, and professional development.
Director of Libraries Yoko Matsumoto said that library administration has a strong focus on staff development, and that bringing the entire organization together is a way to create strong employee engagement.
"Getting all the members of such a large team together is an incredible opportunity," Matsumoto said. "We named this day [re]Brary Day because it's a day for our staff to refocus, reenergize, and rejuvenate themselves, and we expect that our patrons will see the benefits reflected in the service they receive."
All digital library resources will remain available on October 28. Regular library hours will resume Saturday, October 29. Follow the library on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with the latest news and information, as well as photos from [re]Brary Day and other behind-the-scenes happenings.
