Arlington Weekend Buzz: Feb. 20-22
Racing fans are in luck once again this weekend in The American Dream City! After last week 's Supercross event at AT&T Stadium, this weekend features performers on four wheels. The family-friendly experience features monster trucks that are 12 feet tall and 10,000 pounds! The biggest names in the sport will all be in Arlington, straight from their TV show on Speed and their popular toy line from Mattel toys. The event starts Saturday, February 21 at 7 p.m. Ticket prices vary and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.
Five-time Grammy winner Wynonna Judd arrives in The American Dream City Friday night for a special concert at Arlington Music Hall! The downtown venue will host one of the most influential voices in music for 30 years. Joined by her three-piece band, which includes her husband/band leader Cactus Moser, the group will take you inside the hits and history of Wynonna 's iconic career. $90 tickets are sold out for this event, but $65 and $50 tickets are stillavailable online. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Theatre Arlington debuts a Disney classic this weekend the whole family can enjoy! Disney 's The Little Mermaid JR. takes the audience on a journey "under the sea "with Ariel and her aquatic friends. Shows are Friday & Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Opening night is this Friday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. The Little Mermaid JR. runs until March 8 at Theatre Arlington and then moves to UTA 's Texas Hall for special performances on March 17 and 18. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online. No children under the age of three are permitted.
Arlington 's premiere children 's theatre, CATS (Creative Arts Theatre & School) brings to life the pages of a beloved children 's literary classic with Tomie de Paola 's Strega Nona. Directed by Jason Walker, featuring an eight-member cast of youth performers, CATS alumni and a veteran CATS instructor, this musical will delight the whole family! The play runs from February 20-March 1. Fridays at 7:30 and Saturdays at 2:30 & 7:30 and Sundays at 2:30. Looking for a healthy activity your family can enjoy this weekend? Tarrant County College 's Southeast Campus hosts the 19th annual Arlington Family Expo this Saturday, February 21. "Promoting Strong and Healthy Families "is the theme of the 2015 Family Expo. This free, family-friendly event provides valuable resources to families in and around Arlington and Tarrant County. Educational workshops will allow participants of all ages to learn and discover new ways to maintain and improve their overall health and financial awareness.
