On October 16, the City of Arlington Water Utilities held the 2013 Pretreatment Environmental Awards to recognize industries that met all pretreatment compliance requirements in 2013.

"We are fortunate to work with industries that are cooperative partners in our joint effort to be good stewards of the environment. By meeting the pretreatment compliance requirements, each of you enhance our ability to protect the environment, public health, and our infrastructure, "stated Walter "Buzz " Pishkur, Director of Water Utilities for the City of Arlington.

Industries which use a significant amount of water or which use processes that have the capability to discharge abnormal wastewater to the sanitary sewer system are strictly regulated by the Water Resource Services group to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. These permitted industries must ensure compliance with those regulations by allowing annual inspections, testing their wastewater discharges, and submitting semi-annual reports. Industries that met all of the pretreatment compliance requirements were recognized at the Pretreatment Environmental Awards with a plaque. Lunch was served by the Ventana Grille at Tierra Verde Golf Club. James M. Crites, Executive Vice President of Operations from DFW International Airport, was the keynote speaker for the event.
