Community Invited to Attend Panel Discussion with Author Dr. John Perkins on Race Reconciliation

The public is invited to attend an upcoming panel discussion in Southeast Arlington with Dr. John Perkins, a renowned author, speaker and leader of issues on race reconciliation, community empowerment and civil rights.

The free event is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 9 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 5415 Matlock Road. Perkins will speak on the transforming power of positive police community relations through reconciliation and understanding.

A second discussion is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the Junior League of Arlington, 4002 W. Pioneer Parkway.

Attendees will be able to hear about the life of Dr. Perkins and the story of how his brother died in his arms, shot by a deputy marshal. Through his book Let Justice Roll Down, Dr. Perkins tells his story of returning good for evil, love for hate, and progress for prejudice.

All community members and officers from the North Texas area are encouraged to attend. Communities, faith based organizations, and police departments will benefit from hearing this message as all individuals have a role in acknowledging and protecting civil rights within our communities.
