Shop for handcrafted items, enjoy live music and experience a bit of Arlington's early history at the 13th annual Front Street Festival at Knapp Heritage Park next weekend. Visitors can also watch historical re-enactments and artisan demonstrations and tour each of the buildings at the downtown park, which contains three of Arlington's oldest structures. The festival is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 30 at 201 W. Front Street, north of City Hall. The entry fee is $3 per person over 12 years of age or $10 for a family of 4. The Tarrant County Asian American Chamber of Commerce's annual Eggroll Festival is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 30 at Ben Thanh Plaza, 1818 E. Pioneer Parkway. The festival will feature live entertainment, an Asian dessert contest, wellness screenings, information about local businesses and more. There will also be festivities throughout the weekend to celebrate Ben Thanh Plaza's one-year anniversary in The American Dream City. The Arlington City Council proclaimed October 1, 2017 as "David Dang Day" here in Arlington. Dang is the owner of Ben Thanh Plaza.
Join Arlington Parks and Recreation for Food Truck Dinners at Stovall Park, 2800 W. Sublett Rd. from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. every Friday through October 6. Each week we will feature a new lineup of food trucks for you to try out. This Friday night's food truck line up includes Cook-N-Chef, Mardi Gras Canjun Cuisine, Yummy BBQ, Fast Furious Express, Holy Frijole and Steel City. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets to the food truck events, as seating is limited.
Live music continues this weekend at the Levitt Pavilion Arlington for the 2017 fall concert series in Downtown! This weekend's lineup includes Grady Spencer on Friday, Rob Baird on Saturday and The Eddie Gomez Trio -The UT Arlington Jazz Orchestra on Sunday. The NFL season continues this Sunday, October 1, 2017 with an NFC showdown between the Los Angeles Rams (2-1) and your Dallas Cowboys (2-1) at AT-T Stadium in Arlington. Quarterback Dak Prescott has played well during his second season after an impressive rookie campaign. Prescott led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record last season as the team went on to win an NFC East Division title. Kickoff is at noon and the game will be nationally televised on FOX. The Texas Rangers close out the regular season this weekend at Globe Life Park in Arlington for a four-game series against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday, September 28 through Sunday, October 1, 2017. The first 10,000 fans at Thursday's game (7:05 p.m. start time) will receive a Papa John's Texas Rangers Throwback Thursday Collector Pin. There will be fireworks after the game on Friday (7:05 p.m. start time). The Rangers will also celebrate Fan Appreciation Day at Globe Life Park on Sunday. Sunday is also $1 Blue Bell Ice Cream Sunday for fans ages 13 -under. First pitch on Sunday is at 2:05 p.m.
Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, will turn into the Fright Capital of Texas offering the Scariest Fright Fest Ever with an all-new scare zone, eye-catching and thrilling performance, plus a unique event that is appropriate for the holiday season. From thrilling slides to relaxing pools, Arlington residents and visitors have one last weekend to visit Hurricane Harbor. The water park in Arlington's Entertainment District will be open Saturday and Sunday, September 30-October 1, 2017. Hurricane Harbor will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor features 47 acres of water wonderland to enjoy. Spend the day zooming down the adventure slides, or just kick back in the sun and relax with your friends. Theatre Arlington, which is one of the largest community theatres in the country, opened its 45th anniversary season with Bus Stop, an American classic comedy/drama. The show runs through October 22. Other scheduled shows through next August include the musicals, Plaid Tidings and Footloose, as well as A.R. Gurney's romantic comedy Sylvia. The performance schedule for Bus Stop is included below:
