Two free spay/neuter clinics for feral and outdoor community cats that live in Arlington ZIP codes 76010 and 76014 are scheduled for the coming weeks.

Arlington feral and community cats dropped off at the events will be vaccinated, spayed or neutered and ear-tipped to show that they have been sterilized when they are released back into the community.

A driver' s license or other proof of residency in one of the zip codes must be presented at the drop-off, and cats must be confined in a carrier. Call Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) at 940-566-5551 to reserve a spot.

May 20: Meadowbrook Recreation Center, 1300 Dugan St. Cat drop off is from 8 to 9 a.m. Return is at 4 p.m.

June 17: Arlington Animal Services, 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. Cat pick up is from 8 to 9 a.m. Return is at 4 p.m.

The program, made possible by grant funding, is sponsored by TCAP, the City of Arlington and PetSmart Charities. The Arlington Animal Services Trap-Neutral-Return and is designed to reduce the feral cat population.

The City of Arlington received a $41,100 grant from PetSmart Charities to provide spay and neuter surgeries for approximately 750 feral cats in the 76010 and 76014 ZIP codes.
