High school students interested in law enforcement continue to have an opportunity to train with some of The American Dream City's best.
The Arlington City Council approved a one-year agreement with the Arlington Independent School District to provide a Hometown Recruiting Officer for the 2016-17 school year. The agreement was approved at the evening session on October 25, 2016.
The Hometown Recruiting Program - a unique partnership between the City of Arlington, UT Arlington and Arlington ISD - is helping the Arlington Police Department recruit more homegrown talent to build its force.
The purpose of the program is to provide a high school Police Academy curriculum with the intent to provide a greater understanding of a career in law enforcement while providing dual credit for both high school and post-secondary education.
For the 2016-17 school year, the Police Department will provide one police officer to instruct and mentor students enrolled in the program.
