Dreams continue to get done here in Arlington.
The City of Arlington's Parks and Recreation Department (APRD) recently received the Excellence in Operations Management award from the Cartegraph program.
"We're very excited to receive the Excellence in Operations Management award. Over the past 18 months, our department has worked diligently to implement the Operations Management System (OMS). We believe this is a great beginning of a program that will produce desired results. We would like to thank Cartegraph for their recognition of this accomplishment," Parks District Supervisor Scott DeGrant said.
Arlington was one of the first cities to implement a comprehensive work, asset and operations management technology platform in its parks sector.
In just over this past year, the department generated more than 11,000 work tasks and created records for 4,500 individual assets. Based on this data, it enables APRD to make informed decisions based on resources, aging infrastructure and budget. The data has also given the department a new tool for demonstrating the broad perspective and scope of its daily operations to the city council and general public.
"This award is a reflection of the value the Department has placed on asset and work management. Without leadership's commitment, the excellent work being done to develop, implement, and sustain this system would have not been realized," Scott Fairman, Park Operations Manager said.
