Last month, the Arlington City Council unanimously approved a master agreement outlining a public-private partnership with the Texas Rangers for possible construction of a new retractable-roof ballpark.
The new stadium, if approved by Arlington voters this November, could bring an annual economic impact of $77.5 million for Arlington and $137.6 million for Tarrant County, according to HR&A Advisors.
But the proposed Texas Rangers deal wasn 't the only big news in the city this spring.
In April, the General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant and the Arlington Commons multifamily project were named winners in the Dallas Business Journal 's Best Real Estate Deals of 2015.
General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant, which announced a $1.4 billion investment last year, won the Best Community Impact Deal honor.
Arlington Commons was named for the Best Suburban Multifamily Deal. The Nehemiah Company broke ground earlier this year on the 1,328-unit Arlington Commons multifamily project on Lamar Boulevard in North Arlington. When complete, the project is expected to add $200 million to the City of Arlington property tax rolls.
