Volunteers spent a few hours last Thursday morning mulching and raking Arlington" s public dog park.
The beautification project at Tails " N Trails Dog Park was part of United Way of Tarrant County" s annual Day of Action on June 23, where volunteers select projects around the county to benefit their communities.
Other area projects that day included volunteer work at Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County and Mayfair Park in Hurst.
Tails N" Trails, which is located at 950 SE Green Oaks Blvd. behind the Arlington Animal Services Center, has been open since 2007.
Volunteer Wendy Carrington said she used the beautification project as an opportunity to teach her children about the benefits of giving back to their community.
"I brought with me today my two sons and one of their young friends because it" s important to teach them that we all need to give back and we" re all in this together and we need to take care of our city together," Carrington said.
Paul Woods with the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department said the city is grateful for their volunteers" time and efforts.
"We can" t do this without the community" s support. We really do appreciate it," Woods said.
