The newest "Culture Buzz" segment on MyArlingtonTV heads to Downtown Arlington to meet Kim Neiman and Virgil Scott, co-owners and designers at Studio 204.

Virgil and Kim opened the business in Downtown at 204 S. East Street in 2008 after years of collecting, rescuing and resurrecting vintage letterpress equipment.

Using a 1949 Vandercook flat-bed letterpress, and an 1897 Chandler Price platen press, the talented duo designs and prints limited edition posters, cards, books and many other custom projects.

The building has a rich history in Arlington, with Virgil"s father opening up Virgil Scott Television in the 1960s. Virgil and Kim now live and work in that same building, something Virgil says is a dream come true for both of them.

"Growing up in Arlington was very exciting when it was small. It seems like it"s happening again, that same feeling and that awakening of community that used to exist here and that now exists here in a much bigger way," said Virgil Scott.

"When I get up every morning, I think, I get to go downstairs and print. I get to go down and hang out in my own studio. Honestly, that"s been Kim and I"s dream for a long time. I am living the dream."

Studio 204 creates artwork for commercial clients, public gallery exhibitions, and retail. The building is also open for workshops throughout the year, teaching residents and students how to operate and maintain the vintage letterpress equipment.
