An Arlington teenager's wish came true when he learned that he will be attending the University of Texas at Arlington this fall.
Tane Johnson, a 17 year-old Martin High School student, has faced a life threatening neural condition since he was 11. His condition forced him to miss a lot of school.
Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The University of Texas at Arlington, and doctors and staff at Cook Children's Fort Worth gave Tane his one wish: to attend UTA with the first year paid for.
With the help of UTA staff and his friends, Tane was welcomed home with a warm surprise from the Make-A-Wish foundation. He received his acceptance from the University he dreamed of attending with his friends.
While the Make-A-Wish Foundation helped Tane receive the scholarship for his first year, Tane was accepted as a student by his own merit.
The admission staff was contacted by the Make-A-Wish foundation and was impressed that Tane used his one wish to further his education at UT Arlington. The Assistant Director of University Recruitment, Andi Scott, knew that Tane was a perfect fit for UTA, "That kind of determination and forward-thinking really epitomizes the type of student that thrives at UT Arlington."
Tane's father, Bob Johnson, could not believe all the support his son had received. "What nice, caring, people and how blessed we are to be able to live in a community with such caring organizations and individuals. This is what makes Arlington and the surrounding DFW area a great place to live!"
Congratulations to Tane Johnson and his family!
