Arlington, Mansfield ISDs Offer Back-to-School Events to Prepare Students for School Year
The Arlington and Mansfield independent school districts are each hosting back-to-school events next month designed to bring the community together as well as properly equip students for the upcoming school year.
The Arlington Independent School District Back to School Kickoff will help thousands of AISD students and their families get the supplies and resources they need to be ready for the 2016-17 academic year. The kickoff will be held on the west outdoor plaza and indoor platform of AT T Stadium and will run from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 13.
Pre-registered students will receive a backpack filled with appropriate grade-level school supplies as well as the opportunity to visit a variety of resource booths. Booths will include an immunization station, vision checks, eyeglasses fittings and a whole host of other offerings. Attendees can expect to see appearances by Dallas Cowboys mascot Rowdy, Cowboys Cheerleaders and former Cowboys players.
"To see so many organizations and volunteers come together for the benefit of our students is truly heartwarming," Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos said. "I know that the backpacks, supplies and resources our students and their parents will receive at the event will help them start the school year on the right foot and that having confident students translates into a successful year."
To be eligible to attend the Back to School kickoff, AISD students should qualify for the free or reduced-price meal program. Parents are required to pre-register their students. Transportation is available for pre-registered attendees and should be requested via the online registration form.
