Registration for GED and other high school equivalency study programs offered by Arlington Reads opens Thursday, January 5. Registration is online from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., or whenever the class is full. Registration is only available online.
A high school equivalency diploma like the GED shows that you have high school-level academic skills. These diplomas can open doors to better jobs and higher levels of education. Arlington Reads classes are taught in person, by volunteers. Students also have access to an online study program.
Three tests are available in the state of Texas: HiSET, GED, and TASC. Each test has a different price and different features. Students can pick the test that's best for them. The Library's classes teach skills covered in each of the tests.
Registered students must attend an orientation session and pay a $25 materials fee before the first day of class. Spring classes begin January 30 at the Literacy House. Space is limited to the first 50 students, and a wait list is available.
