After fumigation and cleaning, the East Arlington Branch Library reopened to patrons this morning.
The popular library branch, located at 1624 New York Avenue, was closed Friday because of evidence of bed bugs.
Last Thursday morning, a patron notified branch staff that she was bitten by a bug while sitting in a chair the day before. Library staff contacted Facility Services, which found what they believe to be bed bugs in the building 's carpet and furniture.
While closed, the branch was fumigated and cleaned and two upholstered chairs were removed, Libraries Director Yoko Matsumoto said.
The East Arlington Branch Library has returned to its regular operating hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
