Arlington Animal Services Center is calling all city volunteers picture perfect pets to show off their dog or cat style for a chance to be featured in an upcoming calendar and to help support the center s educational programs.
It s time for the annual Arlington Animal Services calendar photo contest and this year The American Dream City wants to feature the adorable cats and dogs who share a home with the City s hardworking volunteers.
The calendar photo contest is one of Arlington Animal Services biggest fundraisers to help the shelter protect animals in the community and find loving homes for homeless pets. The contest, which starts August 14, is open to all city volunteers.
Volunteers selflessly serve in several city departments, including Police, Parks and Recreation, Libraries and Arlington Animal Services, to help Arlington provide quality service to the community. Last year, the city s volunteers worked more than 133,000 hours.
Update: The $5 entry donation has been waived for all volunteers who enter their favorite pet photo in the contest. Participants can enter as many photos as they like.
Each time someone votes on their favorite pet picture, the shelter will receive $1 to go toward educational opportunities at Arlington Animal Services Center. Purchasing the new 2018 calendar once available will help contribute to the shelter.
'This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It helps us with educational programs for the shelter, such as responsible pet ownership, bite prevention and anti-bullying in the Arlington community,'said Chris Huff, Arlington Animal Services manager.
The 12 photos with the most votes and/or donations at the end of the submission period, 11:59 p.m. October 15, will be featured in the 2018 calendar. The calendars are expected to be available for sale by Thanksgiving.
Photos must be taken by the pet owner. Professional or stock photos will not be accepted. Horizontal, color digital photos are required and must be a minimum of 300 dpi or 2400 x 3000 pixels in JPG format so they can be reproduced into high-quality 8×10 photos for the calendar. Cell phone photos are not high-resolution enough. Please do not email photos to the Arlington Animal Services Center.
