1. Arlington’s MLK ‘Advancing the Dream’ Celebration

The annual Arlington Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Advancing the Dream” Celebration is set for January 12-15, 2018. As one of the largest celebrations in the state, this four-day event has consistently attracted thousands of Arlington-area residents each year. This celebratory weekend kicks off at 6:45 p.m. Friday, January 12 with the MLK Advancing the Dream Awards Banquet. The keynote speaker is Martin Luther King III, a human rights advocate, community activist and oldest living child of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Click here to see a complete list of MLK Celebration Events.

2. International Bowl at AT&T Stadium

The 9th annual International Bowl Series featuring 24 high school- and middle school-aged teams across eight nations on three continents will return to Arlington for the fourth consecutive year. All International Bowl games will be played at AT-T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and college football’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl. Game days are Friday, Jan. 12; Wednesday, Jan. 17; and Friday, Jan. 19, each consisting of four games. 3. Live Music at Grease Monkey Burger Shop- Social Club

Head over to Grease Monkey Burger Shop- Social Club in Downtown Arlington for two nights of live music this weekend. On Friday night, Derek Lee will take the stage at 9 p.m. Lee began writing and playing songs live in 2015 with the support of his wife and his family pushing him to attempt his dream. On Saturday night, residents and visitors can check out Brandon Steadman. That show also starts at 9 p.m. Grease Monkey is located at 200 N Mesquite St, Arlington, TX 76011.

4. Salvador Dali Exhibit at Arlington Museum of Art

Salvador Dali was a painter, designer, sculptor, writer and set designer. He was also a master engraver who could produce equally outstanding work in dry point, etching, woodcut or lithography. This exhibition features Dali’s full series of Dante’s The Divine Comedy, for which each of the lithographs presented required as many as 35 colors. There are a total of 101 pieces included in this exhibition. Salvador Dali: Visions of Eternity runs until January 21, 2018. For more information, please visit www.arlingtonmuseum.org.

Go another round with Pub Guys Trivia at this 90’s pop culture trivia night at Legal Draft Beer Co. this Friday, January 12 at 6 p.m. There’s no cover charge, but a portion of drink proceeds at the event will benefit The Friends and Foundation of Arlington Public Library. 7. The Perfect Arrow at Division Brewing

Shortwave, an Alternative Rock with Folk roots band from Fort Worth, will be celebrating the release of their new album in style at Division Brewing in Downtown Arlington this Friday, January 12. Come out for craft beer, music, and a performance of The Perfect Arrow album in its entirety as the evening’s main event. Beneath the Waves, a band from Mansfield, will kick things off at 7:30 p.m. Division Brewing is located at 506 E Main St, Arlington, TX 76010. 8. Sylvia at Theatre Arlington

Enjoy a night at the theatre this weekend in Downtown Arlington, with the romantic comedy Sylvia. Appropriate for audiences ages 16 and up, the show opens this Friday, January 12 runs through February 4, 2018 at Theatre Arlington. Tickets are available at www.theatrearlington.org.

9. The Blues Brothers Tribute at Arlington Music Hall

Dan Aykroyd, Judy Belushi and Paul Shaffer present The Official Blues Brothers Revue this Friday, January 12 at Arlington Music Hall. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. This live concert show combines the comedy and hits from the original movie and pays homage to Chicago’s rich history of blues, gospel, and soul music. 10. Bricks In The Wall: The Sight and Sound of Pink Floyd at Arlington Music Hall

Bricks In The Wall: The Sight and Sound of Pink Floyd, the longest performing Pink Floyd Tribute act in the United States, arrives at Arlington Music Hall this Saturday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m. This tribute re-creates the live Pink Floyd concert experience with a gigantic circular video screen, state-of-the-art video and light effects and a laser light show operated by one of Roger Waters’ tour engineers. Residents and visitors can purchase tickets for this show on the Arlington Music Hall website or call the box office at 817-226-4400.

11. Shows at UTA Planetarium

UTA Planetarium continues to offer shows to residents and visitors. This includes Stars of the Pharaohs, a planetarium show that visitors on a journey to ancient Egypt to see how science was used to tell time, make a workable calendar, and align huge buildings.
