The construction of the new and improved trail at Bob Findlay Linear Park in North Arlington is now substantially complete and open for public use. Over the next four to six weeks, the contractor will continue to repair, clean up and establish all disturbed areas. All areas affected because of construction activity will be restored.
The previous hike and bike trail was heavily used and was in place for more than 20 years. The new concrete trail is 12 feet wide, providing for greater opportunities for shared use. This much-needed trail improvement will also be slightly realigned, enhancing the overall quality of the trail and park user experience.
A small portion of the trail located north of Westwood Drive, which was initially planned to be replaced with this project, will now be replaced in the near future due to a partial sanitary sewer line replacement located under this trail. Instead of this portion of trail, another section on the north side has been replaced and is ready for use.
The Bob Findlay Linear Park trail project, which aligns with the City Council priority to Champion Great Neighborhoods, was funded as part of the 2014 bond program.
