3. Arlington Animal Services was awarded the best place to volunteer by the Arlington Citizen-Journal.

Most people think of volunteering for the animal shelter as cleaning kennels and socializing animals. While those are valuable services, did you know that there are many ways to give your time to the shelter without setting foot in it? Neighborhood events, fundraising events and off-site special projects. Volunteers can provide a great opportunity to socialize with other shelter pets and other animal lovers programs like Golden PAWS, which brings senior citizens together to make blankets, pet toys and help with fundraisers.
