On Saturday, September 26, people from across the region flocked to the Arlington Public Library's Touch-a-Truck 2015 in the First United Methodist Church of Arlington's parking lot.
More than 1,000 people came out to see eleven different community vehicles, including police cars, firetrucks, construction vehicles, a moving van, and a mail truck! Children loved honking the horn of the pothole patcher, peeking into the compartments on the firetruck, and running inside of the moving van.
"The Touch-a-Truck event provided young children with a wonderful opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences ," library director Cary Siegfried said. "More importantly, meaningful interactions between our families and community helpers adds layers to the foundation of a strong community ."
There were activity tents for kids to play with toy cars and car parts, plus they had a chance to create car art. Families were also able to check out transportation-themed library books and participate in storytimes. Families had a wonderful experience, and the Arlington Public Library is already looking forward to Touch-a-Truck 2016.
